Tuesday March 15, join my students and I from 1230-6pm on a field trip to Art City Gardens and Art City Sculpture Studio 197 Dubbers where we will meet with local artists and activists about the creative process, research paper projects, explore, and get our hands dirty too!

Discussion topics include:

  • — creativity
  • –environmental justice
  • — social justice
  • –ways that locals are working to solve problems through their actions
  • –actions that students can participate in

We will visit both Art City Stone Sculpture Studios and Art City Permaculture and Stone Demonstration Gardens. If it rains, there is a gallery we can use and if necessary, we may head over to Patagonia headquarters — an someone from Patagonia may be coming to speak with us as well! If you’d like to share your expertise with us, please let me know ASAP! Possible guest include the City of Ventura and SOAR representatives.

Thanks to Art Therapist and Gardener Lynne Okun for teaching us about permaculture, cobb architecture, and more, plus arts activist and performance artist Tracy Hudak for stepping forward to present on arts and social impact using a framework for talking about this from animating democracy.

Bring your camera! Be prepared to tromp around and get dirty!

PS You’ll know that you’re in the right place if you see this Roscoe’s sign –the Garden is on one side and the Sculpture Studio is on the other. If street parking is full, there are lots within a block or two.

Up next at Art City Gardens is the 8th Annual Spring Dance and Garden Party!
