53 Interesting Facts About the Number 53: 53cm is the average length of a human arm

October 11, 2015

53-to-logoThe average human arm reaches 53 centimeters is this week’s interesting fact about the number 53.

According to Georg Petschnigg, that 53cm length of arm creates a sphere that encompasses head, heart, and hand, and in the midst, a blank canvas. (Artwork by Chris Ashworth from a different company, FIGURE 53.)

FiftyThree, the company that Petschnigg cofounded with Andrew Allen, Julian Walker, and John Harris, offers applications that seek to remove the obstacles between those three coordinates to provide a space for the creativity that lives in the 53 centimeters that magically link head, heart, and hand —  tools as simple and essential as pencil and paper, they say.

In the past three weeks, Paper has been downloaded over 1 million times, and in September 2015, Wired said that Paper may be the best note taking app for the iPhone.

My big question: if my students sent me their papers, could I put comments on them using Paper and/or maybe Pencil and would my students then be able to read my handwriting?
