how i became art predator: 1

how i became the art predator

Posted in art city with tags , , , , , , , on November 4, 2007 by artpredator

i fell in love with a beautiful sculptor

tall lean he worked in metal, stone

shaped trees too

he had blue stitches in his nose

a chain saw had fallen from the sky

almost sliced it off

i moved in to his studio

slept in his metal sculpture under a tarp

cooked in a trailer

watched movies in a shed

listened to mice

showered outside

peed there too

i wanted my own space

he offered to build me a tree house

a place where i could write

high above the world

art city was big enough for me too

my dad helped me design & build a loft

i got my stuff out of storage

moved it all in–books clothes futons

the sculptor and i

didn’t last long

he was furious

i wouldn’t leave

you’re not a real artist he said

you don’t belong here he said

you’re not an artist he said

you prey on artists

you use them

you’re just an art predator

that’s what you are

Well, I take that as fair warning. Predation, influence, fair trade, I don’t know your friend, he was probably just an idiot but you have taken the scene and used it to reveal something of yourself, taken the term on it on, so to speak in a most honourable way,

thanks Paul, for seeing that…that point comes out in the story about where the name came from pt 2!

jessica, the sculptor in the image in the header is peter hudson and the piece is an amazing one form burning man 2008. search for monkeys or burning manon this site and it will take you to more about it including a link to a very cool slide show about how it was made.

thanks for reading my blog and writing me!

Truly your work is art. Take it all on chin and chagrin all the way through the rest of life smiling…. Great stuff. I haven’t gotten all fancy here myself either. Maybe I’ll be inspired soon as the elegy phase passes. Feeling like Poe for a minute though.

Your an Artist and a Predator. I like how you own it and make it YOURS not his. You sound like my kind of people. Art-on (like rock-on) and a smile for you and yours.
