To be eligible to buy a Burning Man ticket, you must register. REGISTRATION begins TODAY for PRE-SALE TICKETS $990 and $1,200:
- Opens: January 24, 2018 12pm (noon) PST
- Closes: January 26, 2018 12pm (noon) PST
- PRE-SALE Starts: January 31, 2018 12pm (noon) PST
Just because you register doesn’t mean you will get a ticket. There are many many more people who want to participate in Burning Man than there are tickets available.
- All sales require registration through Burner Profiles. Make sure your Profile is set up, complete, current, and that you know your log-in details.
- Each sale has its own dedicated registration period.
- Registering for a sale does not guarantee you access to a ticket or vehicle pass.
- Buying a $425 ticket in any sale precludes you from buying additional $425 tickets in a later sale.
- Only one order per person and per credit card is allowed.
- All sales of Burning Man tickets and vehicle passes are final but they are fully transferrable and eligible for name changes.
- Tickets and vehicle passes may only be resold for face value. Any tickets or vehicle passes being sold for above face-value may be canceled without notice or refund.

Confused? All of this is an attempt to make it possible for the most people to have a chance to get a ticket, to cover costs, and for theme camps and art projects to have the key camp mates they need to bring their project to the playa.
While $425 may seem like a lot of money, it is the minimum required to cover the costs of providing the necessary infrastructure to this remote site. More expensive tickets subsidize that art projects on playa — as well as ensuring that the wealthy have the tickets they covet without going to the secondary market aka scalpers.

Am I going in 2018? Not sure. I’ve been 18 times: 1992, 1995-2002, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, and then 2013-1017. Read about my experiences in the paper I wrote for grad school in Community Psychology, Liberation Psychology and Ecopsychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute — it’s broken up into three parts:
Read about the early days of Burning Man.
Read about the need for the 10 Principles.
Read about the 10 Principles.
Over the years, I’ve been a part of Hushville, Kidsville, the Elvis Wedding Chapel, and other theme camps. I’m talking with some other Kidsvillians about a camp that would have a family oriented bar…because as inclusive as Burnign Man is, not everywhere is an appropriate place to take your kid!
If a ticket miraculously comes my way like it has for the past two years, and in other years, I will probably go.
There is nothing quite like it in the world. And while it may seem like it is one giant party or a huge art installation, it is not just that. It is so much more.
So what do you think? Do you want to go to Burning Man? Have you gone? Are you going to try to go this year? Let me know in the comments!
Looks fun!
