Avant Garden International Peace Day and Fall Equinox Gatherings Sept. 21-22, 2017

September 19, 2017

This Thursday and Friday Sept 21 and 22, 2017 celebrate peace and autumn at Art City’s Avant Garden located at 197 Dubbers Street off Olive near Main Street in Ventura CA 93001.

Thu. September 21 is “International Peace Day” and events are being held around the world around the theme “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.” For more go to There are many ways to participate in Peace Day: join or create a public or private activity related to peace, spread the word about Peace Day and/or attend an event in your community. LEARN MORE.

On Th. Sept 21 from 1-630pm at Art City’s Avant Garden and at Art City in the sculpture studios and gallery, we will be doing writing activities, discuss environmental activism, hear poetry, and explore both Art City and the Avant Garden where we will also learn about permaculture and the creative process from working artists.

Wear walking shoes, a sunhat, and a sweater! Bring water! We will be OUTSIDE! Be prepared to sit on the earth or on stones! We might even pull some weeds, plant some seeds, or harvest edibles!

Activities are free, family friendly, and open to the public. Park on Dubbers, Rex, or Olive Streets. If you don’t see anyone in the Avant garden, walk up Dubbers to Art City. Please bring materials to write with and colored pencils for drawing if desired. Snacks and other food and drink to share is also welcome! (Please no alcohol for this event; thank you!)

Learn more about Art City here.

Friday Sept 22 is the fall Equinox in California and this is the fifth Annual Fall Equinox Gathering in the newly named Avant Garden, where sustainability, art, and activism come together and celebrate the rhythm of the earth and sun.

Come during the day to garden, meditate, and relax. As the sun sets, and the day gives way to night, gather round the fire for music and wisdom sharing.  Bring food and drink to share, instruments to play, and a story to tell.

May you fall for creativity this autumn!

What kinds of creative works will you be harvesting this fall?
