This painting by Julieanne Case and this 3:15 experiment poem by me is currently on display at the Ventura Country Government Center on Victoria and Telephone Road in a collaborative art exhibit.
Julieanne Case contacted me in early August to see if I’d be interested in collaborating with her on this show—to provide poetry to go with her paintings. She sent me some paintings and links and I offered to come see the “real” thing. I visited her studio and took a number of iPhone photos. Since I am in the midst of the 2013 3:15 Experiment, when I woke to write, I called to mind paintings and came up with these haiku. The poems are also in response to the recent unexpected death of the son of a friend of mine. I also really liked her “Plum Surrounded” painting and so revised a longer poem about calla lilies to go with it. I’ll post these paintings and poems soon!
The opening reception is Friday, Sept. 20, at 530pm and they will announce the winners of the show at 6pm. We heard today that we placed in the show but we don’t know which place we won yet!
Thank you for joining me on this collaboration journey! It was great fun. I loved your poems and your haikus. And we won an Honorable Mention! Just lovely all around.

Currently in a juried show at the Ventura County Government Center, I have three poems that pair with paintings by Julieanne Case–and one collaboration earned an honorable mention!
