20th Anniversary of The 3:15 Experiment Invites YOU to Play on the Playa & Off
Wanna play? All you have to do is set your alarm for 3:15am, ride that half-awake/half-asleep place of consciousness called a hyponogogic or hypnopompic state, write down what comes to you, and, if you can wait that long, in September see what you wrote, transcribe it, and post it on the 3:15 Experiment website when the 2013 page is ready!
This year, we are encouraging people who are attending Burning Man to join us–writing now or while you are out there. Participating in The 3:15 Experiment is even listed in the Burning Man Who What Where When Guide that’s online now (and you can print it to read it and highlight while you travel!) and that Burners get in a printed version at the gate.
You don’t have to write at exactly 3:15am–
In fact, at Burning Man, you may not be anywhere near your pillow at 3:15am! What’s more important is to be in that ‘between sleeps” state when you can participate in active imagination, a time when the imaginal of your consciousness, and you can find yourself writing words and having visions that just might surprise you!

Recently artist Julieanne Case invited me to collaborate with her for an art show to be held at the Ventura County Government Center. I went to her house, looked over her paintings and photographs, and then wrote poems at 3:15am to go with the paintings. Three of the paintings and poems were accepted and will be hung this Friday. I’ll post the paintings and poems soon!
