“You already have the job, Mom!”
“Whatcha doin’ Mom?” the 5 year old asks.
“Working on getting the Island caretaker blogging job.”
“That’s silly!” he giggles. “You already have the job, Mom! What are you, nuts?”
I love him, love this boy, love his confidence. He’s all ready to go exploring. In fact, he made this painting for me in school. This is his description:
“It’s you driving a boat,” he says pointing to a stick figure in black on the left. “Those are your hands sticking out and you’re holding the steering wheel. I couldn’t really make the head though. This is the bestest head I could make because these black things were sticking out so I had to make it like this.
The waves are carrying the boat,” he continues. “You’re driving to the Great Barrier Reef. There’s not very much room at the top so our stuff is down here,” he says pointing to the yellow objects beside the ladder.
What’s the brown part on the right? I ask.
“That’s the part where you can go up and see if you’re getting closer.”
He’s sorry the sun isn’t in the picture, but I reassure him I love it anyway.
