Not going to the Los Angeles Regional Burning Man event Bequinox this weekend? Me neither — life got complicated and I sold my ticket.

Fortunately the Spring Equinox will go on! On the West Coast, spring arrives on Friday March 20 at 3:45p. And there’s a new moon at 2:36am  and an eclipse–which you can see if you are located in the central Atlantic Ocean, Greenland or Siberia!

Even if you can’t see it, you might feel the effects of the eclipse–it’s a good time for reflection about that which is in the shadow. And with the new moon and the first day of spring coinciding with the eclipse, it’s an especially good time to consider where and how you want to grow in the coming year/s.

Around Ventura CA, here are three events to join: Thursday a dance in Ojai, Friday a seance and circle at City Hall, and Saturday’s workshops and music at Art City Gardens. Details follow.

Thursday March 19 on the eve of spring, come DANCE and BE danced in Ojai at Sacred Space Studio on Bryant in Ojai. Admission is  $13.00. This “softly facilitated movement journey” opens with a warmup from 8-815pm and unifying circle at 8:15p.   Host Alzabeth Rhiannon Anath invites you to bring a sacred object for the alter if you wish, to wear what is comfortable to move in, and she invokes the occasion with these verses:

Spring Equinox is upon us!
We gather in the dark of the moon,
to release the dead of winter.
Preparing our vessels for the newness of spring,
we fertilize our ground to hold and cultivate our dreamseeds…

We circle to honor our journey,
to tend our inner fires and fan the flames of transformation.
Exploring through the ecstatic and trance dance forms,
following the naturally occurring rhythms of our bodies, we weave with the elements.
Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Metal.
Inner and Outer
Self and Other
Light and Dark

We gather to dance our story.
To sweat our prayers.
Together, let us shake off the dead wood that limits the greater expression of our beings.

There’s also a two part eclipse workshop, one with the new moon and solar eclipse and one with the full moon and lunar eclipse two weeks later on Sat. April 4.

On Saturday,  from Noon to Midnight, Art City Studios is where the Gnomes, Fairies, Pixies and other garden beings will celebrate the coming of Spring! Humans should bring water, picnic baskets with food to share, eating and drinking utensils, gloves, sunscreen, hats and extra clothing layers for after sunset. We will plant. We will dance around the fire. We will honor our connections to the earth. Family friendly. A warm smile and a gleam in the eye is what you need most!
