Will Lambrusco, that delightful bubbly red wine from Italy, be the next Prosecco, that delightful white bubbly wine from Italy that took the US by storm nearly 10 years ago?
We’ll see!
In the meantime, the perfect time to check out Lambrusco is today Friday June 21, 2013–the first day of summer and Lambrusco Day!
I was sent a sample of the IL Mionetto Lambrusco so Annie and I opened it up yesterday in anticipation of Lambrusco Day. Annie said,
“This is a lot of fun for 10 Bucks!”
And I agree!

I LOVE Lambrusco! I didn’t know anyone else did though so it is nice to see your post. I always buy Le Grotte brand at Trader Joes for only about $5. I squeeze fresh lemon into and sometimes drink it over ice and it tastes a little like Sangria to me (which I also love). Happy Summer!
Thanks for the tips! I’ll have to try the TJs brand and I was just oggling a half meyer lemon wondering how it would be in some Lambrusco! (ooh and maybe a little St Germain for a cocktail!)
Neat! Thanks. I’ve never had St. Germain (or even heard of it until I just now looked it up). But that sounds good. I’ll have to try it.
Also, another thing I’ve been adding to my Lambrusco lately is a little leftover “syrup” (but it’s more like juice than syrup really) from a jar of Trader Joe’s Dark Morello Cherries. (I made a pie with the cherries.) It’s delightful.
