ASVC Earth Day and Ventura College Climate Action Summit 2018 TODAY

April 24, 2018

Ventura College celebrates Earth Day today from 10-1pm with succulent planting and other activities to make the world better in an event organized by Associated Students at Ventura College. This evening from 630-830pm is the Ventura College Climate Action Summit. Scroll down for details as well as directions on how to make this Earth sugar cookies!

Community leaders join Ventura City Council Member Christy Weir to talk about what can and must be done to make the changes needed in our community to address climate change.

On the program:

  • Dr. Omar Clay, environmental physicist and Research Director of Science for the People, at the Environmental and Sustainability Research Center in Baja California, Mexico;
  • Jan Dietrick with Citizens’ Climate Lobby;
  • Kimberly Rivers with Citizens’ for Responsible Oil and Gas;
  • Tomás Morales Rebecchi, from Food and Water Watch; and,
  • Kitty Merrill cofounder of 350 Ventura County Climate Hub.

Free and Open to the Public in the beautiful new Applied Sciences Building Rm -150 (near the street along Telegraph). Please park only in large campus parking lot at the corner of Telegraph and Day Road to avoid getting a ticket or print out the permit in the discussion on the event Facebook page. Here’s an article on the Climate Action Summit in the the Ventura Star.

You could make these Earth Cookies using all organic ingredients using a sugar cookie recipe and green and blue food dye or you can get Annie’s organic already made cookies (lemon or sugar) and massage in the dye then cook following the directions. Or you can buy any sugar cookie mix and follow the directions adding the dye to the mix in separate bowls then combining them. Note: the dye will dye your hands!

Here’s the recipe that inspired this and provided the photo — until I make them myself!
