In Beauty We Are United: On Sat. Nov. 16 Plant Trees at Hayden Preserve 9-12, Midtown Ventura Cleanup 2-4pm

November 13, 2019

In Beauty we are united,
through Beauty we pray,
with Beauty we conquer.
–Nicholas Roerich

In Beauty. Do Beauty. Be Beauty. Express your gratitude for the beauty of our planet this Saturday in Ventura by planting trees or helping clean up.

The Ventura Land Trust invites you to join them this Saturday, November 16th from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Hayden Preserve located on near Highway 33 on the northern outskirts of Ventura near Canada Larga Road. Help remove invasive species, plant an assortment of native trees and shrubs, and spread mulch on the preserve to help slow erosion and restore soil quality. VLT staff will provide the tools and direction to volunteers who will provide muscle power. Wear closed toe shoes and long pants/sleeves. Google map and directions CONTACT Dan Hulst ·

Busy this weekend but want to get involved? Contact Dan! You can also contact the Ventura Botanical Garden for other regular planting opportunities: or (805) 232-3113.

NOTE on ART: “Leslie Rinchen-Wongmo is caretaker of a tradition. One of the only westerners trained in the rare Buddhist art of silk applique thangkas, she is passionate about the preservation and evolution of this Tibetan cultural tradition. His Holiness the Dalai Lama gave his blessings to Leslie’s work and encouraged her to make images that speak to the spiritual aspirations of people across religions and cultures. Leslie’s work is simultaneously traditional and contemporary, and her fascinating story is the subject of the acclaimed documentary film, Creating Buddhas: the Making and Meaning of Fabric Thangkas. Leslie mentors a select group of students around the world through her Stitching Buddhas Virtual Apprentice Program, and her Weekly Wake-ups provide a thread of inspiration to set your week on the path to awakening.”
