Wine Predator Gwendolyn Alley with Antonella Manuli in Tuscany, Italy

Big news, friends and fans of Art Predator! I’m super to excited to announce that I’m nominated for one of this year’s Wine Travel Awards, and I need YOUR VOTE by March 31! The popular vote by people like YOU narrow the nominations to FIVE FINALISTS which go to the judges who will decide on the final selection. Right now I’m in a four way tie for fifth place, but if just some of my subscribers like YOU would vote for me, I’d be a finalist for sure! It is super easy to vote– just click this link, Then click on the VOTE button and I will be so grateful!

So why should you vote for me and what are the Wine Travel Awards?

Even if you’re one of the over 1k subscribers here on Art Predator (probably because of my eclectic writing about BURNING MAN which I’ve attended 21x and other eclectic topics including environment issues and writing tips), you may not know that I have another blog, Wine Predator, where I write about wine and food and travel! (You may remember that I won this blind wine tasting competition which meant I won a free trip to France to compete in the world championships!) As a wine journalist and freelance writer, I taste thousands of wines and write over a hundred articles about wine each year with most featuring food pairings, and in 2022 I won the JancisRobinson.com 2022 Wine Writing Contest on Regenerative Agriculture. Read my winning entry here.

Terra Madre Slow Food Slow Wine dinner at Eataly in Torino

My post-pandemic wine travels include three press trips to Italy: in 2022 I attended Terra Madre Slow Food Festival then went to Lake Garda, Lugana, and Valtellina; in 2023 I went to Abruzzo, Veneto, and Tuscany wine regions; and in May 2024 I have a trip planned to Sicily, Campania, and Tuscany.

In 2023 I visited Portugal’s Alentejo and planted cork trees; for Slow Wine Guide, I’ve traveled to Oregon and many places in California; and I’m planning a trip to Texas wine country to see the eclipse in April 2024, with stops to check out wine in Arizona.

According to organizers, “Everyone who is passionate about the topic of wine and gastronomic tourism has the right to vote – both professionals and amateurs from any country in the world.” After the March public voting period, they explain that the “five nominees with the highest amount of public votes in each category will be forwarded to the WTA Jury Panel, who will have an honourable mission to choose the best of the best.”

Wine Travel Awards timeline

This year, they say the Wine Travel Awards judging team pushes the boundaries and breaks down professional barriers with 12 professionals in the field of wine and spirits, enogastronomy, wine tourism, communications and marketing. The Wine Travel Awards provide “a unified advertising and information campaign in different countries to draw attention to the nominees: people, regions, wines and local products.”

Please vote for me TODAY!! Thank you!
