Nature Deficit Disorder was coined by Richard Louv in his book, Last Child in the Woods to describe a malady that he sees in modern American society. Adults suffer from it also — as he explains in his subsequent book The Nature Principle.

I know a couple of people who have nature deficit disorder and it gets me thinking sometimes like what is more important than being outside and enjoying being in the sun and other outside things. I remember when I was younger i would always be outside and now that i am a mom myself i would prefer for my daughter to be outside and be a kid instead of being inside and not doing anything but being on a tablet, i pad and also watching television. By her being outside she expands her mind and if she falls and gets hurts then she will just get up and most likely get hurt again, but that is what its called to be a kid not by being on electronics.
