Today is Super Bowl LV (or 55 if you’re not fluent in Roman numerals).

It can’t have escaped most people’s notice that in English, LV looks a lot like LIVE.

And the LV Super Bowl Trophy certainly emphasizes this connection:

Many who lived to see the Super Bowl in 2020 live no longer and will miss LV. Read more…

My Saturn Return Birthday– shared with Burning Man founder Larry Harvey and WordPress founder Matt

January 11, 2021

By Leslie Wongo Rinchen

“Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else,” says Margaret Mead.

Today January 11 is my birthday. It seems like it and I should be unique but it’s not.

January 11 is also the birth date of Larry Harvey, founder of Burning Man. Going to Burning Man back in 1992 and returning 20 times since has had a huge influence on me and how I move in the world. It connected me with other like minded creative people and it connected me with my own creativity.

January 11 is also the birth date of Matt Mullenweg, founder of WordPress, Read more…

On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 11 Wines in a Wine Fridge

January 4, 2021

Clos des Amis’s “Chambang” is a very special, very small production sparkling wine from Ventura County, CA where I live. I’ve helped prune these vines, picked these grapes, helped with dosage, and bottled them!

Today January 4 is the eleventh day of Christmas, and it is the day to celebrate St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first American saint, who lived in the 18th and 19th centuries. Previously, it was the feast of Saint Simon Stylites who somehow lived on a small platform on the top of a pillar for 37 years!

Also on the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me:

On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 10 Coravin Pieces

January 3, 2021

Today, Sunday December 3 is the tenth day of Christmas and the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus which marks the day Jesus was named in the Jewish Temple although different churches celebrate it on a wide number of different dates.

On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 9 cheeses in a cheese grotto

January 2, 2021

9 cheeses to pair with Pinot Noir

Today is January 2, the day after New Year’s Day, and the day that the Catholic Church recognizes St. Basil the Great and St. Gregory Nazianzen, both 4th century Christians who at one point were friends. Basil’s health was poor, perhaps because of the rigours of his ascetic life, they say; he practiced “strict self-denial as a measure of personal and especially spiritual discipline.”

He clearly should have eaten more cheese and enjoyed more wine as research says that both in moderation are good for you!  Read more…

On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 8 Bottles of Bubbles

A selection of sparkling rose from around the world: California, South Africa, Italy, Argentina, and France.

On the Seventh Day of Christmas, My True Love Sent To Me: 7 Winning Wine Clubs

December 31, 2020

Today is December 31, New Year’s Eve, the seventh day of Christmas, and the day when Pope Sylvester is celebrated. In in many central and eastern European countries, some call New Year’s Eve ‘Silvester.’  On this day, the sun is setting on 2020 and we have 2020 24 Hours to go and I wanna be sedated!

What a year, huh? No wonder we wanna be sedated…

Good thing that on the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me

On the Sixth Day of Christmas: 6 Gorgeous Glasses with NYE 2020 24 hours to go!

December 30, 2020

2020 24 hours to go! Ramone’s video and lyrics below.

Today December 30 is the sixth day of Christmas, and it’s the day that St Egwin of Worcester died in 720. As a medieval Benedictine Bishop, he tried to correct abuses and faults of the clergy in his diocese, and they didn’t like it too much but the Pope did. Then Mary told him where to plant his church and when he died many miracles were attributed to him.

Kind of like the Ramones, right?

And in another Christmas miracle, on the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me:

6 Gorgeous Glasses! Yes that is a Christmas miracle because they are arriving just in time for New Year’s Eve!

Because you know it’s almost 2020 24 hours to go! (Ramone’s video and lyrics below!)

And because gorgeous glasses set a beautiful, festive table AND  the wine — or other beverage–tastes more beautifully too  if it’s the correct glass for the drink! Read more…

On the Fifth Day of Christmas, My True Love Sent to Me: Five Organic Wine Guides

December 29, 2020

DaVero biodynamic farm saves seeds in this barn.

On the Fifth Day of Christmas, My True Love Sent to Me:

The fifth day of Christmas is today, December 29. It’s also the day for St Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury in the 12th century who was murdered on this day in 1170 for challenging the King’s authority over the Church.

Sounds a bit like organic and biodynamic farmers challenging the petrochemical laden establishment! Read more…
