SURVEY: Attitudes on Tech and Poetry

My friend the poet Robert Peake continues to amaze me. I met Robert back when he lived in Ojai where he worked in tech and would read regularly around town. Now he is a British-American poet living near London and working in tech. To bridge the divide between our two continents, Robert created the Transatlantic Poetry on Air reading series. His full-length collection The Knowledge is forthcoming April 2015 from Nine Arches Press.
Robert is one of a growing number of poets who have embraced technology and found ways to wed it with poetry, including making short films with his wife that combine image, poetry, and music with technology. Above is one example of this marriage: his award-winning motion poem “Buttons” which he filmed using stop motion and a camera made from Lego pieces and with music by his partner Valerie Kampmeier; read the poem, see the camera, and learn more here.

You’re welcome, Robert! I’m going to encourage my students to take the survey today in class. I’m surprised there are no demographics questions (country? age?), but perhaps that would make the data more complicated. Or next time? I’d definitely be willing to get more classes at VC involved–maybe compared with a similar college in London area?
Hey Gwendolyn–yes, I wanted to keep it super simple and non-invasive, even though demographics might be intervening variables here. Would be great to get students involved. Typeform is a great survey tool.
