Celebrate SPRING! McGrath Family Organic Farms & CSA Reopens w/a party 3/21!
In one week, on Friday, March 20 at 4:44am Pacific Time, SPRING arrives on the Northern Hemisphere! That means that days will finally be longer than the nights up here while the nights will be longer than the days for our friends Down Under (Hi Paul!)
One way to celebrate is to gather up local foods and make a springtime feast! For us, THE place to go for organic produce (when the Farmers Market is closed!) is the McGrath Family Organic Farms, located just off the 101 freeway near Camarillo, conveniently located for those heading north out of LA for the weekend!
This is a real honest to goodness farmstand featuring what’s fresh and what’s growing on the fields nearby, and they’re celebrating spring with the grandest or re-openings on the second full day of spring, Saturday March 21, with live music on a solar powered stage and lots of local culinary finds ready to delight the locavore in YOU!
McGrath Family Farm celebrates the beginning of another season of organic farming in Ventura County:
*When: Saturday, March 21st 10:00am – 6:00pm *
*Where: McGrath Family Farm (101 at Central in Camarillo)
* Everyone is invited to enjoy great food, live entertainment on a solar stage!, Ocean Pride Seafood, and amazing organic produce of course!
Guest speakers include Chef Greg Kurtz, Keith Malloy from Patagonia and Farmer Phil. Free samples and specials on organic strawberries, too! If you’ve never been, this is a great opportunity for you and your kids to see that sustainable agriculture is alive and well. The farm stand will be open daily after the event. Great opportunity to learn about/support local businesses!
You can also sign up to join their CSA (community supported agriculture also known as a membership or subscription farm) and receive a box of produce each week. Find out about the contents of a late summer box below:
It’s a sweet space and the McGraths are wonderful people, especially the devoted and friendly Farmer Phil! Hope to see you there!
How will you celebrate spring? What local culinary delights are you looking forward to?
