Join me tonight as we ZOOM “Straight Up Our Alley” at a Poetry Reading tonight, Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 6:30pm. While the plan was to have both a ZOOM and “room” at EP Foster Library in downtown Ventura, and to release and celebrate our class publication there, this week and for a few more weeks, readings will only be online due to a foot injury by host Phil Taggart who has hosted poetry almost every Thursday Night for about 30 years here in Ventura and served as Ventura County’s Poet Laureate as well.
For our class publication titled “Straight Up Our Alley” with cover art by Karen Aranha, about 15 students contributed creative works from poetry to prose but mostly poetry. I composed an introduction and a new poem for the publication, as well as a haiku:
fresh raindrops sparkle
dangle like diamond earrings
below spring green leaves
So ZOOM it will be! While the reading starts at 6:30, the ZOOM room opens at 6pm California time; come early to sign up to read!
