Poetry from the 3:15 Experiment: August 20, 2009–Lord Ganesha Returns

August 24, 2009

3:15am August 20, 2009
poetry from the 3:15 Experiment

Ever since Lord Ganesh
came to visit 2 weeks ago
I have had no night terrors.

Now that’s saying something–
I’ve had night terrors acute & chronic
for twenty years.

Not that I don’t put it past
Lord Ganesh to have this power.
It’s just that I didn’t expect it.

But I guess as the Remover of Obstacles
he would be the obvious one to
remove this obstacle for me to sleep.

Because in case you didn’t know
night terrors are this sleep disorder
where you hallucinate & experience extreme terror.

Not a lot of fun.

The closest thing to a night terror
has been when I knew “they were here”
& Lord Ganesh stepped up to say he was too.

In The 3:15 Experiment, participants wake at 3:15am to write. It started in 1993; I’ve been doing it since 2001.

Read more 3:15 experiment here; for some non-3:15 poetry, ride the Monday Poetry Train.

Great to have that inderstanding of what you believe, and what that belief can do for you.
    Happy birthday Lord Ganesha.
