February Wrap-up :: March What’s Up

March 1, 2009

shamrockmartini1Here at Art Predator, I posted 41 times in February with nearly 500 total posts, had over 8,000 page views during the month, and over all I’m on the final approach to 60,000 total page views since November 2007. I didn’t read all those books like I’d planned to, I’m afraid to admit, because I became obsessed with the Great Barrier Reef and getting that Island Caretaker Job, and participated like crazy on the Island Caretaker ning here. One last time, here’s my video:

We had the first First Friday ArtRide and we’re planning the second for this coming Friday March 6 which will light up your life and your bike! The small boy and I have been spending lots of time looking at blinky lights to buy to sell to folks at the ride!

bicycle-flashing-body-lights-body-light3Modeled after the Disneyland Electric Light Parade, but on bikes, this Friday dress up as a Disney character and with fun light accessories for you and your bike–or just join the ride: the more the merrier! Meet at 515pm and park for free at the City of Ventura San Jon Road Maintenance Yard lot or meet at 530pm at the Artists Union. From there, ride follows the promenade to Main, then downtown visiting the open First Friday galleries  including Bell Arts Factory.

hawaiianleislgTo help you light up your bike for the First Fridays ArtRide and Electric Light Parade Friday March 6, join us at the ArtBarn Thursday from 7-10pm. Bring lights and reflectors to be installed; some lights will be available for purchase. California law requires night riders to have a white light in front, a red light in back, and reflectors on the sides.

venusmoonniikkors http://www.flickr.com/people/pitmanra/Astronomically, we start the month with a smiley moon and the last few weeks of bright Venus sunsets. My TideLog tells me that at the end of the month, Venus will be at its closest in three years–and then it disappears in the glare of the sun to return a few days later at dawn with Mars and Jupiter. Photo by Ronnie Pittman from  here. The moon is full Tues March 10 at 738pm Pacific Time and new again Th. March 26.

We can all feel the days getting longer here in the Northern Hemisphere and the vernal equinox arrives Fri. March 20; spring is heralded with the daylight savings time change in most of the US Sat. March 7. In the Southern Hemisphere of course, the days are getting shorter as summer becomes fall.

What do we have to watch for astrologically? According to Astrology.com:

With the Ides of March comes the Spring Equinox in the northern hemisphere (the Fall Equinox for those Down Under). April 20 also marks the Astrological New Year when the Sun moves into the first degree of Aries, and it’s the start of a whole new cycle of life.

The month starts off with the planet of love, Venus, turning retrograde on March 6. Don’t be surprised to hear from past flames. When Venus is in this motion-backward period, lessons transpire to help you evaluate the real value of people and things in our life. This retrograde will last until April 17.

Venus, the planet of love, turns retrograde in bold Aries on March 6, and turns direct in dreamy Pisces on April 17. When Venus is retrograde, it provides lessons that help us evaluate the real worth of people and things in our lives. It is purely a time of reflection rather than action. Only after Venus turns direct should you initiate any changes in your life.

Although Venus turns retrograde once every 542 days or approximately 1 ½ years, it retrogrades in the same sign every 8 years. To understand how this period will affect you, think back to March and April of 2001 when Venus was retrograde in Aries the last time. Then, look at the house where Venus is in your natal chart to get a deeper understanding of how to utilize this period.

  • First House: Reevaluate where you are going, how you look, and what you want to be like to attract another person into your life.
  • Second House: Redo finances, look at your values around relationships, and see if what you are projecting is what you want to attract.
  • Third House: Reconnect, reconfigure ideas, and repair broken relationships.
  • Fourth House: Reconnect with family, security, and what makes you feel safe.
  • Fifth House: Good things are ahead! Venus wants all the good things in life and the Fifth House is the house of fun, love and romance.
  • Sixth House: Rethink your diet, health, and take a good look at what makes you feel worthwhile.
  • Seventh House: Take extreme care with partnerships of all types.
  • Eighth House: This is a time of true inner searching.
  • Ninth House: Think about classes, school and your spiritual path, and make some wonderful leaps during this time. (This is where I am…Venus in Capricorn in the 9th House)
  • Tenth House: Reconnect with opportunities and people in your work life.
  • Eleventh House: Reconnect with old friends and acquaintances, and whatever else gives you a sense of connection.
  • Twelfth House: Go deeper within yourself. How do you think, and what does that thinking bring to you?

Mental Mercury enters emotional Pisces on March 8, urging you to put your logical mind on the self, and to let your imaginative, intuitive self reign free — at least for a week. Also on the 8th, stand back and assess where you’re headed when the Sun will be exactly opposite Saturn.

The full Moon in Virgo on March 10 will highlight your emotional connections. Ask yourself what you can do to take better care of yourself and make your life more secure. The Saturn-Uranus opposition is currently one of the most important transits.

On March 12, the Sun moves within 60 degrees of Uranus, when liberation and change are emphasized. Conjunctions mark beginnings — time for a new cycle. Out-of-the-blue events occur now, so open up to fresh experiences. Leave behind old concepts that have nothing to do with you anymore. The planets align themselves to help make your dreams come true when Mars enters Pisces on March 14, and the cosmos conspires to make your dreams come true!

Curtail overspending and draft a sensible plan that strengthens your stability as Jupiter quincunx Saturn on the 22nd. Saturn is the planet of contraction, while Jupiter is the planet of expansion. The quincunx is an angle of adjustment, and who couldn’t benefit from rearranging some plans and making the future more secure?

Aries — the warrior sign — rules the last week of the month. On March 23, the Sun squares transformational Pluto, so take into account the powers-that-be and the prevailing climate of these times. Speak up when Mercury enters this fiery sign on March 25. Grab the Ram by the horns and get going on March 26 with the new Moon in Aries

I don’t know how you do it, and manage to do it all so well too. Sometimes I’m embarrassed to see how hard you work, doing everything yourself and changing the world into a much better place too. You make me want to lift my game.

Thanks, Paul. They say: If it is to be, it is up to me. I take those words to heart. I’m glad that through my efforts and actions I am able to inspire others to engage and make the world better for all of us.
