slingshots hold no
thunder and lightening
inside a shoe that doesn’t fit
imagine cramming all that eternity back
in the middle of summer
pulled around the building
I sat in the living room
open the window
here: it’s hot
my dream angel solid and
burning mind no time for feathers
HOT we wished for
slashes of lightening
physical form is no small feat

by Candice Cunningham, of 2020 Images; she specializes in unusual wedding photography and her website is worth checking out! The poem combines lines from 3:15 experiment poems written August 15, 2008 by Danika Dinsmore, Tod McCoy and myself as part of our process of creating a collaborative piece to submit to a journal; this is the draft of the stanza I produced. Will let you know when you can see the final piece!
I chose this stanza to put up because it calls to mind the changes we are transitioning into–no small feat!! And it’s really HOT here in SoCal! We’ve had an insane heat wave with wild wild winds for over a week now! Rain is supposed to come our way on Wednesday and through the weekend; personally I will continue praying for La Nina to deliver us from the unmitigated and unsolved onslaught of mud from our neighbor’s property. Cool. it’s a pem with a mindshape like flash of lightening, barely containing its own energy, jagged and fast and alive.
Will it help you cool off to think of the two inches of ice covered by another two inches of water from melting snow that greeted my walk to the bus this morning? Good times.
The photo of the lightening is freaky. But it’s a perfect picture for this week! I’m feeling the bolt of cosmic change. And it’s like rain on parched lips to me.
I love the way this turned out… they physical and spiritual wrapped around the storm. it can stand on its own or as part of the larger piece. Everyone will have to wait to see the final poem!
I’ve posted my original stanza over at The Accidental Novelist (I’ll link back to this one)
and a 2nd Monday Nite Pome at my new blog
I can feel the heat!
oh i like that paul a poem in a mindshape and energy of lightening! thanks!
2 inches of ice sounds awful, julia! and thanks for noticing the bolt of cosmic change!
hope others will go see your stanza, danika! i really like how it came out (as you already know!)
STG, it’s funny how all three of us conveyed some aspect of that body escaping heat in our 315s that night!
Cramming eternity..
I like that thought..
