poem: bee butterfly
through the kitchen window
an insect flies into a wine bottle
now a monarch chrysalis
attaches to the side
no no little one
you don’t understand
the wine fumes
may hurt you
you will be trapped inside
like a fine masted ship
gentle i shake you out will
put you careful someplace safe
in my hand you buzz
you are now a bee
anger stinger poised
flick you go out the window
i really wanted
to keep you in that bottle

A lovely nature poem, butterfly into bee, with a very tender and alive tone. He would have been a drunken pirate ship in a bottle I think.
so glad you were able to assist himto fly off into freedom. Hey – I love your tag-line – it’s very clear that you practise what you preach…
lovely poem. May god help that insect :P
How Wittgensteinian! (The bee’s out of the bee-bottle.)
thanks, Paul–i think you’re right about thbe drunken pirate ship in a bottle…
i guess you could say i assisted him–i was tempted to squash him i admit! thanks for the compliment–i’m trying to fullfill that destiny!
thanks, dinesh!
not often that a poet pulls a Wittengenstein comment out of the hat, Philip! cool!
Delightful to read; it brings out a child’s wonder from the reader. :) Good compression, too. Cheers.
Wonderful imagery. Some dreams have that spare simplicity like a myth or an oracle.
Very visual. I read it twice.
keep it burning, keep it alive
To keep is to destroy, to release is divine.
I liked this.
