Register to Vote, Don’t Vote Video, & Poll

October 17, 2008

If you live in California and want to vote in the presidential election next month, your voter registration form must be received or at least postmarked by Monday October 20–that means get it in the mail by Sat.Oct 18! Why wait? You can download a form and get  more information about voter registration in other states, etc below.

And why let Gallup have all the fun? Here’s a poll about whether you’re registered to vote thanks to the new Poll Daddy feature at Word Press. Please say why you voted the way you did or add details in the comments below.

The following info from MomsRising has the details:

Time is running out to be able to participate in one of the most important elections in our nation’s history. If you or your friends and relatives have not already turned in your voter registration form, please make sure that you do so today. Your registration form needs to be postmarked (or hand-delivered) by Oct.20. But why wait? Mail it in today!

Don’t have a form? If you still need to fill out a form, you can fill one out online right now at: http://www.momsrising.org/registertovote and turn it in to your local elections office. Your Secretary of State’s Web site should have that address. Link to it from: http://www.vote411.org/.

Anecdotally, we’ve heard that most MomsRising.org members are already registered to vote and have pledged to do so, but we also know there are lots of busy moms out there who still haven’t had a chance, or who don’t realize that they’re not registered. Right now, forward this email on to everyone you know–because they may not be registered! Friends don’t let friends miss a chance to vote!

Also, not to be alarmist, but we’ve heard lots of news stories lately of people being shocked to find out that they have been removed from the registered voters list because their signature or name has changed, or they haven’t voted in a while. Please encourage everyone you know to make sure they are registered and able to vote on Nov. 4–an Election Day that is guaranteed to make history. Your Secretary of State’s office should be able to verify your voting status. Link to it from: http://www.vote411.org/.

Thanks for making sure that people who care about issues like paid sick days and paid family leave; affordable, quality child care; health care; and other key family issues are heard loud and clear this election year. Together we can create a more family-friendly nation.

–Tracy, Laura, Katie, Kristin and the entire MomsRising.org team.

I bet you can’t guess which button I pushed, haha. Thanks for your consideration in providing the option.
