My New Writing Project

August 11, 2008
tags:

I started a new writing project 08-08-08; at least once a week until 09-09-09 (at least 54 times in 13 moons) I loop from my house down San Jon Barranca to the Beach, then along Harbor to the Pier/Wharf to the River, up the River to Main Street and Art City and the Yoga Studio,  down Main Street to San Jon Barranca and home.

I intend to observe and write about the present conditions–the seasons, the actions, the interactions–and integrate and incorporate the past–both natural and cultural history. Each week I will travel my loop and back in time 50 years, then 500, then 5000, etc.

There’s more to it, but that’s the basic plan!

As well as getting up at 3.15 am and drinking all the red wine Australia can produce singlehanded. You are amazing. I tip my lazy hat to you.

Wow what a great idea. Reminds me of Walt Whitman’s daily walks through the city.

    Thanks, guys!

Now that I’ve used up all my broken heart poems, done all the baby poems, haven’t found remodeling too poetry inspiring, gotta get out of the navel and the house!

I am looking forward to exploring the tradition–Thoreau of course and Whitman, Rebecca Solnit’s wonderful book of a few years ago, and I am sure there will be more! When I told Laynie Browne about the project, she had some suggestions.

I should write up a request for book recs as a post!
