SB Writers Conference Scholarship: Mystery

Dennis Lynds Memorial Scholarship to the 2008 Santa Barbara Writers Conference

Deadline for applications: June 7, 2008
Recipient will be notified several days after this date.

Writing sample:
Email a 1500-word excerpt of your mystery, detective or crime fiction. Your excerpt should be sent via MS Word attachment in a single file. If you don’t have MS Word, you may paste your excerpt into the body of your email.

Brief Cover Letter:
Please put your cover letter in the body of your email. Tell us briefly about the novel or story the excerpt is from and why you’d like to attend the 2008 SBWC. If you wish, include publishing or writing credentials and your goals for your writing career.

Please include your contact information (name, phone #, email and mailing address) on all the materials you send.

No application fee.

The scholarship recipient will be chosen by a committee led by Gayle Lynds. If you are choosen to receive this scholarship, but you find you cannot attend the 2008 SBWC, the scholarship will be offered to the runner-up form the selection process.

The scholarship includes registration for all of the regular workshops and official events of the 2008 Santa Barbara Writers Conference (www. sbwriters.com), but does not include master classes, appointments with agents, room or meals. All of those additional possibilities will be available to you for the regular fees paid by regular enrollees.
